While genetics play a role, may other factors are present that are accelerating the prevalence of this condition. Fortunately, these other factors allow effective targets for change and a means to reverse the current trends. This change starts with each child and their parents as changes in dietary patterns and other behaviors pave the way for a healthier life. From there, changes within the community and our society can evolve further to improve the environment for our families. Through healthy nutrition, regular exercise and physical activity, and good choices, childhood obesity can be effectively treated.
