GET ACTIVE!

Arrange activities for your children daily as possible. Regardless of whether your child partakes in a school physical education program, rarely does this accomplish the recommended 1 hour a day of exercise. Parents always achieve the best results when they set a good example. Participating in your own exercise regimen consistently or joining your child in a physical activity routinely will reinforce these efforts. This will get your child away from the television and video games, and at the same time encourage strong family values.
Take advantage of community recreation programs as possible as well as school programs designed to keep kids active. These not only promote exercise and physical health, but also build good social relationships and encourage a sense of well-being. Mood is also a factor for child obesity. Children who are anxious, depressed, stressed, etc. have worse eating habits and suffer a higher chance of obesity. This in turn can result in a vicious cycle that only worsens the problem. Exercise can be both fun and mood elevating, and also allows our bodies to physically deal with our day to day stressors.
